Job Description

The Office for Environment and Urban Green Space is the central point of contact in the Bonn city administration for developing and ensuring a sustainable, resilient future for nature and the environment in our city. Here, employees have the opportunity to actively and innovatively influence the environmentally adapted habitat design that takes into account the changing climatic conditions as part of their daily work.

The Urban Greening division in the Office for the Environment and Urban Greening plans, builds and develops about 1,400 hectares of green spaces with about 285 employees.

This also includes 40 cemeteries, which must be further developed for the future according to a currently adopted concept. Challenges here are in particular the changing cemetery culture, the requirements of climate change, biodiversity and the preservation of the importance of the cemeteries as inner-city green spaces.

The scope of duties includes in particular:
-Planning, costing, tendering and construction management of landscaping work in the area of the 40 municipal cemeteries
-Processing of all service phases of HOAI 1-9
-Personal and professional supervision of the garden supervisors in the cemetery districts,
-Processing and responding to citizen inquiries and complaints on cemetery and burial issues
-Collaborating in the implementation of the innovative cemetery concept and in the drafting of cemetery bylaws
-Representing cemetery-related issues to the public

Please provide evidence of the following:
-graduate degree (diploma/ bachelor's degree) in appropriate field, e.g.E.g. engineer*in for landscape architecture and planning. With appropriate experience and the willingness to further education, applications from other fields of study are also very welcome
-Knowledge of the administrative structure and experience in the field of cemetery and funeral services are desired
-Experience and knowledge of modern office communication, MS Office applications are required
-good digital skills in terms of GIS and specialized computer software facilitate the daily work
-a completed training in horticulture and landscaping or as a cemetery gardener is an advantage but not mandatory
-car driver's license

The Office of Environment and Urban Greenery is currently in an organizational process. Due to this, structural adjustments in all subject areas are possible. Active cooperation in the organizational process is required.
