The Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection (StMUV) in Munich (Bogenhausen) is seeking to fill the position of a consultant (m/f/d) for the project "Environmental Initiative City.Climate.Nature" in Department 2 "Climate Protection, Policy, Sustainability" in Division K27 "Climate Protection and Sustainability in Urban Areas, Architecture" as soon as possible.

The environmental initiative Stadt.Klima.Natur is a component of the activating environmental and climate policy of the Free State of Bavaria and supports legislative requirements. It networks and informs planning and building stakeholders and the general public about climate adaptation using green and blue infrastructure in built-up areas. The support is mainly aimed at the target group of Bavarian municipalities. The initiative thus makes an important contribution on the way to liveable cities and villages of the future. The position (temporary need for work performance - temporary job funding) is limited to five years (60 months) (fixed-term contract). In addition to full-time employment (currently 40 hours per week), part-time employment is also possible, provided that full-time performance of the duties is ensured through job sharing. Employment is in accordance with the Collective Agreement for the Public Service of the Federal States (TV-L) and the Part-Time and Fixed-Term Employment Act (TzBfG).

Main tasks:

  • Responsible for the project "Climate Adaptation Handbook for Municipalities" with the steps of conceptualizing, implementing and continuously updating,
  • Municipal elections in March 2026 as a milestone for the creation of an easily understandable information offering with a strong user focus,
  • bundling and transporting application-related information and guidance on local climate adaptation measures, with the focus of such measures being on green and blue infrastructure
  • hybrid design of the handbook according to user needs in digital, analog and event-related form,
  • Linking, channeling and preparing the extensive range of information for stakeholders in the field of municipal climate adaptation,
  • own strategic and conceptual performance as well as cooperation with external service providers and partners,
  • Organization, technical preparation and implementation of appointments and events, continuous exchange and cooperation with other information and networking bodies, in particular cooperation with the City.Climate.Nature support office at the Climate Centre of the Bavarian State Office for the Environment in Augsburg.

General and professional requirements:

  • Scientific university/university degree (Diplom Univ. or Master) preferably in natural sciences, environmental sciences, engineering, in spatial or urban planning or in other fields of study suitable for dealing with the above-mentioned main tasks; qualification for offices comparable to the fourth qualification level (4th QE),
  • Experience in project management, ability to work independently,  knowledge of urban ecology and climate-related issues,
  • Desirable Experience with instruments and concepts of activating environmental policy,
  • Desirable Experience with municipal processes and the role of urban land use planning,
  • Understanding of communication products and addressing target groups,
  • Communication skills (internally as well as with target group representatives),
  • Ability to work in a team, interdisciplinary thinking and cooperation with other institutions,
  • initiative, strategic thinking, assertiveness and a confident manner,
  • above-average commitment as well as a high degree of creativity, resilience and flexibility,
  • good verbal and written communication skills,
  • Confident handling of common office communication software.
