The Potsdam Museum - Forum for Art and History is showing the exhibition "Karl Foerster. New Paths - New Gardens", which is dedicated to the Potsdam garden artist Karl Foerster on the occasion of his 150th birthday on March 9, 2024.

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, 6 p.m., the curator of the exhibition Heide Howcroft, landscape architect bdla, will give a lecture entitled "From Bornim to the world. How Karl Foerster influences contemporary gardens".

On Friday, August 16, 2024, 3 p.m., Heidi Howcroft will guide visitors through the special exhibition with a look at "The garden artist Karl Foerster. Potsdam as the center of a new garden movement." Karl Foerster's legacy "can be felt most clearly here in his home town. His house and garden are among the most important garden monuments in Germany," said Prof. Dr. Walid Hafezi, Councillor for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, paying tribute to Karl Foerster at the opening of the exhibition on 9 March 2024.

And Dr. Thomas Steller, Director of the Potsdam Museum, added: "The exhibition sheds new light on Foerster's multifaceted and difficult to grasp personality and his work, from his influence on garden culture to his artistic inclinations. Karl Foerster was a man who successfully made his way through four political systems in the middle of the turbulent 20th century. Despite adverse circumstances, which he repeatedly adapted to or resisted, he succeeded. We are delighted to have Heidi Howcroft, a highly renowned landscape architect, garden book author and garden history expert, as our curator."
