Landscape Architecture

Study & Profession

Landscape architects change the world with their ideas.

They create green oases and new open spaces for people and nature: city squares and parks, skate parks and bike paths, renaturalized rivers and biotopes.

Studying landscape architecture means being versatile, creative and interdisciplinary. With project work, practical exercises and excursions, the course of study conveys the entire spectrum of the profession: from environmental planning, the design of urban spaces, plant and soil science to construction technology and urban planning. A "task of the century" for landscape architects is the climate adaptation of cities and regions.

Diverse studies - successful career

Landscape architects are sought-after generalists. A diverse study program and lifelong continuing education ensure a successful career. Some universities offer special English-language degree programs. Graduates have many paths open to them at home and abroad.

The bdla offers students and young professionals junior membership in the bdla regional associations, so that they can use helpful contacts and professional expertise for their own careers right from the start. After their training, young landscape architects will find competent advice and collegial support in the bdla.
