The Historical Gardens Department is responsible for researching and communicating the cultural heritage to the general public, in particular to preserve the state's historical and valuable gardens for future generations.

The area of responsibility includes the technical supervision of garden maintenance and the property-related maintenance facilities, the development and updating of development plans, maintenance concepts and tree registers, the monitoring of the traffic safety of the tree population, the tendering and preparation of the awarding of green and tree maintenance work as well as the planning and procurement of capital goods for the local government enterprises.

The planning of garden and landscaping measures, including collaboration on conceptual designs and the planning and implementation of demanding garden monument conservation measures, is also part of the tasks, as is local construction management, taking into account interdisciplinary aspects such as biodiversity, species protection, monument protection, climate change impacts, traffic safety and budget specifications.

Other activities include determining staffing requirements, planning and coordinating staffing levels and deployment, liaising with the press and public relations work and dealing with inquiries and complaints. We reserve the right to change the scope of duties.

A university degree in landscape architecture, landscape planning, landscape conservation or a comparable course of study is required.
