Job Description

Applied Sciences for Life - in this sense, the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences has a unique range of subjects covering all aspects of life. We are one of the leading universities for applied life sciences and green technologies. We train our students to become responsible specialists and managers who are optimally prepared for their career entry. The scientists at HSWT teach and conduct research at three locations (Freising, Triesdorf, Straubing) on socially significant issues such as sustainable land use, climate change, biodiversity, food technology, biotechnology and renewable energies.

Our Weihenstephan Campus in Freising offers a wide range of opportunities for professional networking with other nationally and internationally renowned teaching and research institutions, enhanced by its proximity to Munich and excellent transport links.

The Faculty of Landscape Architecture, Weihenstephan Campus, is looking to fill a vacancy for the winter semester 2025 / 2026 or later.

PROFESSURE FOR "SUSTAINABLE LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION"

(STAFF GROUP W2)

to be filled

Teaching and research content:

Our students of landscape architecture, landscape construction and urban planning must be optimally prepared for future tasks as responsible planners and implementers.

In this context, the new "Sustainable Landscaping" professorship teaches the basics of earthworks, path construction, the construction of sports, play and leisure facilities and drainage technology in landscaping in the bachelor's degree courses at the Faculty of Landscape Architecture, all with a view to sustainable, climate-resilient construction methods. The focus is on knowledge of mechanical soil properties, building materials, standard and special construction methods. Further teaching input into the English-language Master's degree courses is welcome.

There are currently many current structural engineering developments in landscaping that need to be addressed in research as well as teaching. These include the structural implementation of climate adaptation measures (development of new elements of blue-green infrastructure, decentralized drainage management, etc.), but also the use of energy- and resource-saving techniques (rediscovery of clay and drywall construction as alternatives to concrete, use of recycled materials, substrate management strategies).

The use of the Weihenstephan Gardens as test areas for experimental research approaches offers ideal starting conditions for this. The further development of these test areas is desired.

An active involvement in applied research, the supervision of internships, project work and theses as well as cooperation in the university self-administration are required. The adoption of related teaching content is desired. We offer an interesting field of work at the interface between applied research and practice-oriented teaching with the opportunity for independent further development of the subject area.

Your profile:

You have a degree in landscape architecture, landscape construction or a related course of study with a corresponding focus. You can look back on several years of professional experience in landscaping and have experience in the areas of sustainable building materials, alternative construction methods, drainage techniques and related areas. They also have experience in applied research in the university or non-university sector.

Recruitment requirements:

-Completed university degree

-pedagogical aptitude

-special aptitude for academic work, which is demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate or other evidence (expert opinion on achievements appropriate to a doctorate)

-in addition, special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in at least five years of professional practice after graduating from university; of these five years of practice, you must have worked outside the university sector for at least three years; in special cases, professional practice outside the university sector also applies if you have worked for at least five years for a significant part of your professional practice in cooperation between university and non-university professional practice

Applications from abroad are expressly encouraged. We require the willingness and ability to teach in German from the start of the employment relationship
