The Act on the Implementation of Directive 2014/52/EU in Urban Planning Law and on Strengthening New Coexistence in the City of 4 May 2017 was promulgated in the Federal Law Gazette (BGBl. I p. 1057) on 12 May 2017. It entered into force on 13 May 2017.
Article 1 of the Act contains amendments to the Building Code. Article 2 of the Act contains amendments to the Ordinance on the Use of Buildings. In addition, Article 3 of the Act contains amendments to the Zoning Ordinance.

In addition, the BMUB points out that the Building Code is to be amended by the following three laws before the end of this legislative period:
- Act for the Further Improvement of Flood Protection and for the Simplification of Flood Protection Procedures (Flood Protection Act II).
- UVPG Modernization Act
- Law for the adaptation of the Environmental Legal Remedies Act to European and international law requirements
