In an article for the current bdla association magazine, bdla treasurer Harald Fugmann explains the background to the bdla's new contribution rules, which have been in force since this year.
"The major change, as I see it, is that an office's total dues will be reduced by 50 percent for the year it joins and the following three years," the treasurer said.
This applies to the federal contribution, he said, in addition to the state group contribution. Fugmann: "Central wish was a contribution simplification. But as desirable and tempting as this would be, it is difficult to achieve in detail. The association has decided to put the issue of fairness in dues at the top of the list at the cost of numerous special regulations."
With the new online dues calculator, interested parties can see how much their federal dues would be after just a few clicks. "But the dues calculator also provides information about the monetary benefits of membership," Fugmann said.
