The German Association of Cities, together with the Association of German Architects and the GdW Bundesverband deutscher Wohnungs- und Immobilienunternehmen e.V. (Federal Association of German Housing and Real Estate Companies), is the sponsor of the German Building Owner Award; the Association of German Landscape Architects is a cooperation partner.

"How liveable cities are is determined to a particular extent by the qualities of their public spaces and by their built environment," said the President of the German Association of Cities, Mayor Markus Lewe from Münster.

The 2020 competition for the housing industry's most important prize is currently open. The competition documents are available at www.deutscherbauherrenpreis.de until 11 June 2019.

In addition to housing companies and cooperatives, private and public building owners, etc., landscape architects as well as consortiums of planners in coordination with their building owners are also called upon to submit projects that were realized in Germany between January 2015 and April 2019.
