bdla informed Green parliamentary group at stakeholder meeting.
On 29 January 2020, the Green Party's parliamentary group in the Bundestag invited to a stakeholder meeting and exchange of ideas. Daniela Wagner, spokesperson for urban development, and Anton Hofreiter, parliamentary group leader, were on site.
The topic set by the Greens was "Urban resilience with more urban green and sponge city concepts". The bdla was represented by the president of the bdla, Till Rehwaldt, and Mario Kahl, deputy federal managing director of the bdla.
Think big was the bdla's motto. Till Rehwaldt recommended to get away from the small-scale of the current approaches. This includes, among other things, that it should no longer be just about urban greenery. Rather, the blue-green infrastructures must be developed politically, structurally and professionally across the board, not only in the metropolises.
In addition to a critical appraisal of the new urban development funding, the bdla spoke out in favour of a substantial investment programme of its own for blue-green infrastructures. Furthermore, the bdla and other associations urged reforms in building and planning law. The bdla once again pleaded for a binding open space design plan - also for concrete climate adaptation measures on a concrete scale.
Daniela Wagner summarised that two messages had been conveyed: firstly, in the opinion of almost all stakeholders, there was a need for a new, complementary and specific funding programme and, secondly, an optimisation of the Building Code.
At the end of the meeting, the latest "Berlin volte-face" - the "farmers' billion" - was already running on the smartphone tickers. The federal government had once again opened the casket to get the tractor demonstrations off the streets before the Bavarian local elections in March 2020.
Also or straight before this background the bdla will have to recruit further for the fact that the actual generation task, climatic adaptation by green infrastructure, also a "good climate by green billion" gets. It would make sense in any case, the chances are better than ever.
