Competition for the 50 most beautiful private gardens decided

Again a year is around, again there is the most beautiful garden of the year in the German-speaking countries and 49 further absolutely successful private green paradises. The now 6th competition "GARDENS OF THE YEAR" has come to an end, and the bdla is one of its partners.

The jury, in which bdla Vice President Irene Burkhardt participated on behalf of the landscape architects, selected one prize winner and four commendations from the competition entries. Value was attached to holistic concepts, which let the garden become in individual way the extended living and pleasure area of the user. There should be a strong idea behind it, to which plants, materials, products etc. are subordinate.

The first prize of 5,000 euros was awarded jointly to the Petra Pelz Design-natürlich office and GartenLandschaft Berg & Co. GmbH for the garden "A part of the plant world" near Hanover. Execution: Pelz Design-natürlich and GartenLandschaft Berg & Co. GmbH.

One of the recognitions went to Volker Püschel, landscape architect bdla, for "More than a garden" in Mettmann. Execution: Planting work: Volker and Helgard Püschel (Mettmann), paving and path construction work: Dieter Horstmann (Willich).

Documentation

A unique overview of the most beautiful private gardens in the German-speaking countries offers the documentation for the competition GARDENS OF THE YEAR 2021. The book shows on 320 sides an impressing variety of most different private gardens on the basis over 400 color illustrations and garden plans. Detailed information on special features of the plot, the concept, the materials used and the choice of plants round off the 50 garden portraits.

Exhibition

All 50 gardens, the photographer's prize and the 22 solutions of the year will be presented by the Verein Mustergartenanlage im Grugapark e.V., Essen from July 3 to August 29, 2021 in a show well worth seeing.
