From May 18 to 21, the representatives of the Green professional associations will meet in Germany's northernmost state capital for their committee meetings/members' meetings and the traditional national congress. This year's motto is "Urban Greening for All. Promoting appreciation, enabling participation".
On the eve of the federal congress, the city invites to a reception in the Kunsthalle zu Kiel; the participants are welcomed by Doris Grondke, City Councilor for Urban Development, Construction and Environment.
During the two-day federal congress, everything will revolve around participation. In public green spaces, but also in infrastructure projects and garden shows, there is no way around citizens' initiatives and more or less complex participation procedures. This presents municipalities in particular with new personnel and financial challenges, but also paves the way for greater appreciation on the part of citizens and thus increases the acceptance of planning results. "How can green space offices, planners position themselves confidently in this arc of tension, act transparently and agilely, and which methods and formats have already proven themselves in practice?" asks Götz Stehr, President of the German Conference of Garden Authority Managers (GALK e.V.).
In his wide-ranging program, speakers at this year's Joint Federal Congress of Green Professional Associations will shed light on this topical issue from a variety of angles.
