The competition is looking for best practice examples that show how municipalities can use urban greening to positively influence the urban climate and reduce the negative effects of extreme weather.
In addition, innovative concepts for a climate-adapted and vital urban green that have already been tried and tested will be honored.
The Federal Urban Greening Award is aimed at cities and communities with a population of 3,000 or more, as well as city and community cooperatives. Planning offices, universities, research institutions, citizens, initiatives or associations can participate in cooperation with their municipalities.
The application period is from January 11 to April 4, 2022. The competition is implemented and technically supported by the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development. The organizer is the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction.
