On November 8, 2023, the bdla was invited to an expert hearing in the Bundestag Committee on the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection. The topic was the federal government's draft of the planned Climate Adaptation Act.

In his statement, bdla President Prof. Stephan Lenzen welcomed the draft bill, which aims to create a binding framework for a precautionary climate adaptation strategy. At the same time, the bdla recommends the establishment of a separate "Blue-Green Infrastructures" cluster and regrets, among other things, that the ban on deterioration is no longer included in the current draft.

Like almost all experts, Prof. Lenzen also pointed out the great need for action in terms of funding and called for the provision of funds.
