The exhibition of young landscape architecture FRISCHGRÜN21 was on display at Haus der Architekten in Dresden from September 8 to November 3, 2023.

The exhibition shows the special structural and conceptual quality of young landscape architecture in Germany and presents portraits of its authors. The ten entries were selected by a jury of experts as part of a competition in 2021. The exhibition was previously on display at the BUGA in Erfurt and at the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences in Höxter.

As part of the exhibition in the Saxon state capital, an informal panel discussion took place on October 26.

Professor Irene Lohaus, Professor of Landscape Architecture at the Institute of Landscape Architecture at TU Dresden and co-owner of the Lohaus-Carl-Köhlmos office, discussed the special role and quality of the work of young offices with Norman Harzer and Stefan Grieger from GRIEGERHARZERDVORAK in Berlin. The discussion was moderated by Franz Reschke, owner of the Berlin office of the same name and member of the bdla executive committee.

The panelists from different generations spoke about their own personal paths to self-employment and how they have experienced and overcome the challenges of the profession and its changes over the years. The importance of the work of young offices back then, in the early 1990s, and today was repeatedly highlighted.

The audience - from students and colleagues to interested members of the public - numbered over 30 and enriched the discussion with their own questions. Afterwards, the discussion continued over snacks and drinks.

In addition to the successful exchange, one conclusion of the evening was that young landscape architecture is needed in order to sustainably develop the profession, whose generalist approach is more in demand today than ever, through new perspectives and approaches and to carry it into the future.

The exhibition contributions can also be viewed online at any time on Landscape Architecture Today.
