2024 was and is a special year for the bdla: the professional association - founded in 1913 as the Bund Deutscher Gartenarchitekten BDGA - is celebrating its 111th birthday and that promises to be a party. And so the landscape architects celebrated together with sponsors, friends and representatives of neighboring disciplines on April 12, 2024 at the newly opened Eierhäuschen restaurant in Berlin-Plänterwald.
The history, present and future of landscape architecture and planners were the focus of the evening. This was also made clear by bdla President Prof. Stephan Lenzen and Christoph Schmidt, Managing Director of Grün Berlin, in their welcoming addresses. Peter Cachola Schmal, Director of the German Architecture Museum, Frankfurt/Main, spoke about the "cities of the future" and the tasks facing architecture and landscape architecture in his laudatory speech to the more than 250 guests.
During the course of the event, the revised and updated online exhibition "111 Years of Landscape Architecture" was launched. 111 projects from 111 years now invite you on a virtual journey through the history of landscape architecture in Germany, paired with key events, highlights and milestones.
The "Eierhäuschen" did what it was already known and loved for in the 19th century: it presented itself as a popular pub with a beer garden and, this is completely new, with the "Spreepark Art Space", a project by Grün Berlin.
