During a visit to the Kitzingen office of arc.grün | landschaftsarchitekten.stadtplaner on 10 July 2024 by Dr. Anja Weisgerber, environmental policy spokesperson for the CDU/CSU parliamentary group, Managing Director Gudrun Rentsch, Vice President of the bdla, provided information on the tasks and importance of landscape architecture and landscape planning in overcoming the challenges of climate change and the biodiversity crisis. Based on current projects and in view of the recent flooding events in the politician's home region, the principles of the sponge city and sponge landscape were explained.
The expert discussion emphasized how important it is to create a technical and conceptual basis for climate adaptation and natural climate protection measures and to consolidate the provision of federal funding, especially for municipalities in rural areas.
Dr. Weisgerber was also able to raise awareness of the noticeable shortage of skilled workers in landscape architecture. The reform approaches of the upcoming HOAI amendment, which are crucial for the implementation of the energy transition and the transformation of the landscape, were clarified, especially in the service profiles of area planning.
Dr. Weisgerber expressly welcomes the informal exchange with the bdla, including on the implementation of the EU regulation on restoration (nature restoration law) in a national restoration plan, to be continued in the near future.
