From January 1, 2025, the EU taxonomy will bring some changes for the planning industry. The EU Taxonomy Regulation is a sustainability reporting system that will affect large parts of the economy. To support architects and engineers with implementation, the Federal Chamber of Architects and the VBI have created a practical guide.

As an EU classification system, the taxonomy evaluates economic activities according to their contribution to environmental sustainability and sets standards for sustainable construction based on six environmental goals. The aim is to support investors and companies in making informed decisions about sustainable and ecological activities. The regulation also aims to simplify access to financing for sustainable projects.

This guide provides an overview of the new requirements, gives practical tips and shows how sustainable projects can be successfully implemented and how planning offices can provide their clients with competent advice.
