The six-member bdla Executive Committee continues to complete a considerably extensive work programme, which was updated in two Presidium meetings on 14.11.2019 and 22.01.2020.

Both sessions focused on two societal mega-topics, a) the need for skilled workers in the industry and the corresponding tasks of the professional association, and b) the role of landscape architects in the age of climate change.

At the 2019 closed meeting, a variety of ideas were developed for attracting young talent in view of the shortage of skilled workers (see article on p. 18). The Executive Committee has now decided to focus on particularly important measures with a view to achieving the objectives efficiently. With regard to the target group "pupils", the bdla is to focus, for example, on strengthening the pupil internship in planning offices.

With regard to the focus on students, various activities were assigned to the working group on training, among others; the working group is requested to collect valid data on student numbers/assessment of demand.

A further determination concerns the development of a strategic motto that brings together junior staff work, PR and positioning in terms of content: "We shape climate". It is to be implemented with various measures.

These include, among other things, a clearer emphasis on the topic of "climate adaptation" in the online communication of the bdla, a corresponding focus in public relations at state and federal level, and an examination of whether a nationwide "high end" further training offer of the bdla on the topic of climate change and landscape architecture is feasible.

Furthermore, countless activities will be continued. These include lobbying through a parliamentary evening in Berlin (under the umbrella of the Initiative Green for City and Countryside together with BGL, BdB, ZVG) as well as the classic association tasks in view of the current amendments in planning and building law.
