Jury to decide on First Prize and Awards from 30 nominations on 28 April 2017
The 30 nominated projects for the competition for the German Landscape Architecture Award 2017 have been determined. From 119 entries admitted to the competition, five expert judges made their selection between 9 February and 15 March 2017. In the next step - the jury meeting on 28 April 2017 - the winner and the award winners in the max. nine categories will be determined.
This is now the 13th competition for the German Landscape Architecture Prize since it was first awarded in 1993. The prize, which is awarded every two years, honours exemplary projects and their authors. The subject matter is socially and ecologically oriented settlement and landscape development as well as contemporary open space planning. Outstanding planning achievements, including conceptual ones, which demonstrate aesthetically sophisticated, innovative and ecological solutions are honoured.
In the 13th year, for the first time, the submission of projects and the determination of nominations took place exclusively online. At their meeting on 28 April in the German Centre for Architecture in Berlin, eleven jurors will examine the 30 nominated works and decide on the awarding of the First Prize and the prizes in the categories Use of Plants, Green Infrastructure as a Strategy, Neighbourhood Development / Living Environment, Participation and Planning, Nature Conservation and Landscape Experience, Sport, Play, Movement, Climate Adaptation and Sustainability, Light in Open Spaces and Landscape Architecture in Detail.
The award will be presented at a festive evening event on Friday, 29 September 2017 in Berlin. On this occasion, the bdla will publish a competition documentation.
