On 20 September 2019, the latest competition brochure was published on the occasion of the festive event for the award of the German Landscape Architecture Prize 2019.

The bilingual documentation presents the winner of the German Landscape Architecture Award 2019 as well as the awards in the categories "Working Environment", "International Projects", "Young Landscape Architecture", "Landscape Architecture in Detail", "Experience of Nature and Landscape", "Public Space as Centre", "Use of Plants" "Sport, Play, Movement" and "Living Environment".

In his foreword, bdla President Till Rehwaldt sums up the 14th competition year. "Every two years we see projects in different places, with different focuses. And each time we see - as in a mirror - current issues of our time, we see that landscape architecture also has a social dimension, that with our work we take a position in a changing world."

With the intensification of the discussion about climate change and its consequences, society, people are confronted with questions and facts which, although not entirely new among experts, are now becoming apparent with an unusual clarity. Dr. Susanne Götze addresses how clearly in her essay "the glowing future of our cities". The journalist and book author describes how climate change is altering life in cities and the people who live there.

How landscape architects are changing life in cities and people is the subject of the contribution by landscape architect and journalist Gesa Loschwitz-Himmel. She presents the "Baakenpark - Sehnsuchtsort in der Östlichen HafenCity, Hamburg", awarded the First Prize. "At present, the peninsula still looks like a solitaire in the newly developed harbor basin. But that is exactly what it will not be in the future, but the visual-aesthetic point of reference in a moving urban landscape, the green focal point in the eastern HafenCity, which will be created by 2024."
