Deadline January 27, 2025 Award ceremony on September 12, 2025 in Berlin

The Association of German Landscape Architects bdla has awarded the German Landscape Architecture Prize for the 17th time. Every two years, it honors outstanding design and conceptual planning achievements that demonstrate aesthetically sophisticated, innovative, ecological and participatory solutions in the spirit of climate-friendly landscape architecture. The focus is on social and ecological settlement and landscape development as well as contemporary open space planning.

The patron is Klara Geywitz, Federal Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Construction.

Participation and participants
Participation in and submission of projects for the German Landscape Architecture Award 2025 competition takes place online. Eligible to participate are German landscape architects or landscape architects based in Germany, members of other disciplines, provided they are members of the bdla, and working groups involving the aforementioned. A participation fee of 200 euros per project is payable; participation is free of charge for bdla members. The closing date is January 27, 2025.

Jury
High-caliber judges guarantee an adequate assessment of the submitted projects. The bdla executive committee has appointed the following judges:

First prize and awards
The jury evaluation will take place in two stages; the pre-selection with nomination will take place online by March 15, 2025. At a meeting on April 11, 2025 in Berlin, the jurors will decide on the awarding of the first prize and the awards in the categories:
- Public space, - Living and working environment, - Use of plants, - Concepts for nature and the city, - Sport, play, exercise, - Building in existing buildings/historic sites, - Young landscape architecture, - Climate adaptation/climate protection, and Maturity test - Projects, 20 years and older (completed before 2005).

Award ceremony
The award ceremony will take place on September 12, 2025 in Berlin. On this occasion, the award-winning works will be presented to the public. A documentation with all award-winning projects as well as the works nominated for the German Landscape Architecture Award 2025 competition will be published at the award ceremony.
