Topic

Our cities and communities are still under great pressure. Urban and open space planning must face the Herculean task of rapidly creating new and affordable housing while maintaining and developing sufficient healthy open spaces that allow people to live comfortably in the city. All this against the more urgent premise of mitigating the effects of climate change in our cities.

Which climate adaptation measures are effective and enable people to live healthy lives? What role can a stable green infrastructure play in this process, which permeates the entire urban organism and connects it with the region? How can green spaces be permanently established in the city? What hurdles exist, especially in accelerated times? And how can they be overcome in an interdisciplinary way?

Municipalities as well as urban planners and landscape architects are called upon to take on this task powerfully and convincingly and to enable healthy living conditions for all citizens in our cities and communities also in the future, to promote health and reduce social stress through sufficient and well-designed open spaces and, last but not least, to weave approaches to solutions for the major challenges of climate change and loss of biodiversity/too in there.

The Association of German Landscape Architects Baden-Württemberg, together with its cooperation partner, the SRL Regional Group Baden-Württemberg, will take up the current issues facing landscape architecture and urban planning at the conference and, together with experts and lawyers from ministries, local authorities, planning offices and universities, will present sustainable approaches to solutions for local authorities and planners.

In addition to solution approaches for urban and green space planning, the topics of environment and health, approaches to climate change adaptation and the new action guide for species protection in construction for Baden-Württemberg will be highlighted. Finally, since environmental and urban land use planning always mean changes for the city's inhabitants, participation and participation procedures for a successful implementation of these solution approaches are to be addressed.
