Seminar: Flood proofing in regular and special cases on November 5, 2019.

The advancing climate change - and the associated increase in extreme weather events - pose new challenges.
Adaptation of private and public drainage and water systems is necessary. This includes the "proof of safety against flooding or controlled harmless flooding" in the service area of the planners.
The submission of this planning service is required by licensing authorities and municipal drainage companies. There are no regulations on the responsibility for the proof of flooding. However, retention areas, such as swales or sloped paved areas, must of course not only be calculated, but also planned and designed. For this reason, landscape architects, in conjunction with building planning and technical building equipment, are the first point of contact for flood proofing.
The seminar is divided into an introductory lecture and the presentation of examples. The general conditions, the basic determination and the calculation procedure of the proof are presented. Deficiencies and cases of damage from expert practice will also be discussed.
Together with the participants of the seminar, practical exercises on flood proofs are carried out. Different planning situations in the standard case and in special cases such as in infiltration systems, in underbuilt areas and in inner courtyards serve as examples.
