The best final thesis of the past academic year submitted by graduates of Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences in the course of study Landscape Architecture (Bachelor) or Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning (Master) has been awarded by the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Regional Association of the Association of German Landscape Architects BDLA.

The award was presented to Hannah Winkelmann during the graduates' farewell ceremony at Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences by landscape architect Enno Meier-Schomburg as representative of the state board.

From the decision of the regional association Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania of the BDLA:

Hannah Winkelmann was selected for her Bachelor thesis "Revitalization of the village center Kröslin". It is a practical work, in which essential performance phases were completely worked through. Planning alternatives were worked out how the centre of a village can be revitalised. For this purpose, constructional and open space planning means were used to pick up the historical spatial structure as well as to create a green axis within the village, which represents a connection to new tourist development areas of the village. Hannah Winkelmann's intention is to provide food for thought for the development of rural areas.

In the selection process, it was acknowledged that a comprehensive analysis and plan had been drawn up which could form the basis for further planning work on Kröslin. The supervisors were Prof. Thomas Oyen and Dipl.-Ing. Jens Rupprecht.

The book on the German Landscape Architecture Award 2015 and the current documenta-tion on the German Landscape Architecture Award 2017 were presented as book gifts. For the year 2018 Hannah Winkelmann will be accepted as a junior member in the regional association Mecklenburg-Vorpommern of the BDLA.
