Central German Student Competition

The bdla Saxony was in charge of the competition.

Topic: Glauchau... Arrive - Depart - Stay

The theme of the competition was the upgrading of the station forecourt and the adjacent small city park, as well as the design of the connection towards the city center, including Scherbergplatz at the former city hotel in Glauchau.

The task was divided into two core areas:

• Working out a better urban connection to the city center of Ballenstedt.
• Development of an open space design that allows a diverse use of the buildings and a public use of the entire area.

With the title "Tuch-Bahn-Hof" the work of the competition winners takes up the history of the city of Glauchau. With the well-designed idea of a cloth railroad, the pedestrian route from the train station to the city center is drawn. The consistent and detailed elaboration of this guiding idea, which creates spaces with a high quality of stay as well as functioning traffic solutions, is to be particularly appreciated.
