On June 8, 2018, the members of the International Working Group met for the second meeting at the bdla national office.

Speaker and head of the working group Prof. Fritz Auweck was pleased to welcome Daniel Cook, managing director of the British Landscape Institute LI from London, as a special guest. Daniel Cook informed in a presentation about the current challenges of the profession in the United Kingdom and about the activities of the LI in various fields of action.

The presentation led to a lively and detailed discussion, whereby interestingly also differences in the self-image and with regard to the strategic orientation of the two associations became apparent. Daniel Cook is pleased to say that he is very interested in intensifying the bilateral cooperation with the bdla.

This cooperation also appears to be very attractive for the AK; because in an international comparison, the professions in Germany and in Great Britain are well established and their institutions are organizationally very well positioned, so that together one can move a lot in the international arena.

Consequently, various concrete cooperations were also explored. The idea of a worldwide accreditation of landscape architecture courses under the umbrella of IFLA World, the exchange on the digital challenge of BIM, and the professionalization of the European umbrella organization IFLA Europe were specifically targeted.

The AK will continue to pursue the topic of language requirements for the education of foreign students in Germany. Prof. Ingrid Schegk will comment on the present recommendations. The status of the EU's Urban Agenda was also discussed, as well as the relevance of the action plans for relevant topics that will be developed in the coming months.

Further topics were among other things the reform of the Common Procurement Vocabulary on European level as well as the English-language information offers of the bdla in the Internet.
