First Young Landscape Architecture Workshop successfully launched on 2 March 2020

At the end of February 2020, the Founders' Forum went online on the bdla website, another offering for web-based collegial advice and discussion of current issues.

The special feature of the Founders' Forum is the target group, the young landscape architects or start-ups. "It is our goal to help young graduates on their way to self-employment and further, of course, to arouse interest in active participation in the association," says Franz Reschke (37), office owner, member of the bdla presidium and head of the Young Landscape Architects Working Group in the bdla. "The exchange among each other is helpful and valuable. Why should everyone repeat the mistakes of the other? By reaching out to the young, the bdla also gains appeal to graduates and those starting their careers."

First Young Landscape Architecture Workshop

The bdla offered another offer for young landscape architects and start-ups on 2 March 2020 with its invitation to the first Young Landscape Architecture Workshop in Kassel. 25 participants followed the explanations of Edgar Haupt, aufBau Marketing und Coaching, Cologne. In the four-hour seminar, he presented his findings and experiences on the topic "Young and independent. Planning office 2030", which almost challenged to debate.

Questions about knowledge transfer came up, about effective office structures and self-organization, about employee management and office takeover, quality of small offices. The attendees were clear about the fact that there were so many topics that would need to be dealt with in greater depth in a follow-up workshop.

Working Group Young Landscape Architects

At the subsequent meeting of the working group, it was decided to show the exhibition on young landscape architecture in Erfurt, planned for 2021, as part of the BGUA. The project team will clarify organisational questions in the near future and prepare the invitation to tender. On the occasion of the exhibition, a thematic focus on young professionals is to appear in the bdla association magazine.

And for those who are now wondering who is a young landscape architect, the working group has agreed on a definition: an office owner, landscape architect under 40 years of age and / or up to ten years after entering the chamber.
