In 2020, the federal "ENVIRONMENT" prizewas awarded for the first time.

The Federal Award comprises the categories "Residential Buildings", "Non-residential Buildings", "Neighbourhoods" and "Sustainability and Innovations". In addition to these competition categories, three special prizes are awarded for particularly innovative approaches. Under the headings of "resilience" and "sufficiency," the focus is on adaptation to climate change and strategies for reducing the use of resources.

All players in the construction sector - building owners and developers, offices for architecture, building technology, urban or landscape planning as well as manufacturers or research institutions are invited to apply with buildings realized in Germany or quarters in advanced planning.

The Federal Award will be presented by Federal Environment Minister Svenja Schulze on 29.09.2020 at a conference on "Environment and Building" in Berlin.
