The seventh competition for the most beautiful private gardens in the German-speaking world in 2022 has come to an end. The winners have been chosen and the book with the 50 most beautiful private gardens of the year has been published.
The first prize of 5,000 euros was awarded to the office Horeis+Blatt Partnerschaft mbB, Garten- und Landschaftsarchitekten bdla, Bremen, for the garden "Im Garten der alten Schmiede" in northern Germany.
Five offices each received recognition:
- Brigitte Röde, landscape architect bdla - Planungsbüro Garten und Freiraum for "Indian Summer Feeling" in Krefeld, execution: Jansen und Arens GmbH & Co. KG.
- Gartenkultur AG for "A Garden for the Whole Family" in Thun, Switzerland, execution: Gartenkultur AG.
- Büro Inspired by Nature - Landschaften und Gärten for "Adieu Tristesse!" in Munich, execution: Inspired by Nature - Landschaften und Gärten.
- Büro Jörg Lonsdorf - Die Gartenthusiasten for "Ein gepflanztes Märchen" in Bonn. Execution: Jörg Lonsdorf - Die Gartenthusiasten.
- Büro Cordula Hamann - Gärten und mehr for "Living Sustainability in the Garden" in Bremen. Execution: Cordula Hamann.
Landscape architects, garden designers as well as garden and landscape builders were invited by the awarding bodies Callwey Verlag and Garten+Landschaft as well as the partners of the competition, which included the bdla, to submit particularly successful, realised private gardens. A renowned jury, in which bdla was represented by Prof. Dr. Swantje Duthweiler, bdla spokesperson for plant use and chairperson of bdla Bavaria, selected the winning projects in summer 2021.
These and 44 other award-winning gardens and their concepts and plans can be seen in the book "Gardens of the Year 2022″ and from 1 July to 28 August 2022 in an exhibition in the model garden complex in Grugapark e. V. in Essen.
