On June 26, 2024, the prizes for the German Builder-Owner Award 2024 competition were awarded in Berlin. "Today's winners show that building can be affordable and of high quality. This should not only be the guiding principle for projects in times of difficult framework conditions," said Sören Bartol, Parliamentary State Secretary, Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building, in front of around 200 guests at the EUREF-Campus.

This year, a total of 195 projects across Germany entered for the German Builder-Owner Award. These included new buildings, modernizations and conversions. From the large number of projects, 30 projects were nominated and the interdisciplinary jury, in which Friedhelm Terfrüchte, Essen, participated on behalf of the bdla, awarded a total of five projects the German Builder-Owner Award. Three special prizes were awarded for the topics "Open space design/climate adaptation", "Monument protection" and "Building with wood".

The special prize for open space design/climate adaptation went to the project "Wohnbauten in der Hauptstraße, Berlin", client: HOWOGE Wohnungsbaugesellschaft mbH, Berlin, architecture: roedig.schop architekten bda, Berlin, open space planning: hochC Landschaftsarchitekten, Berlin. Stefan Müller

"Many cities in Germany will continue to grow in the coming years. We therefore need more affordable, climate-neutral and high-quality living space in as little space as possible. The projects honored at the German Builder-Owner Award show this: High quality at affordable costs is possible even under difficult conditions if all those involved pool their skills," said Burkhard Jung, Lord Mayor of the City of Leipzig and Vice President of the Association of German Cities.

The German Builder-Owner Award has been presented by the GdW, BDA and the Association of German Cities, which have joined forces to form the AG KOOP, since 1986. In addition to the Federal Ministry of Building, the prize is also sponsored by the Association of German Landscape Architects bdla.
