On September 2, 2022, the Urban and Open Space Planning Working Group arranged to meet again physically in Kassel. After a long break due to the pandemic, they were happy to meet and discuss again. The speaker Prof. Ulrike Böhm informed about the central bdla topic "climate adaptation/climate protection".

In particular, the working group devoted itself to the draft of the 20 recommendations of the bdla for a consistent climate adaptation policy with a focus on urban landscapes, in short Essentials for Climate Adaptation, and commented on them. The federal office further explained the already diverse fields of action and tasks within the bdla on the cross-cutting issue of "climate adaptation/climate protection". The working group thanked the presidium and the federal office for the overview of activities and the essentials on climate adaptation policy.

However, the spokespersons suggested to further strengthen the important cross-sectional topic in the association and to communicate it to politics and society. The speaker Prof. Ulrike Böhm will represent the position of the working group as a member of the advisory board at the next closed meeting on November 4, 2022 at Ettersburg Castle.

Further topics were the "Action Program Natural Climate Protection" of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV), which is currently being processed, and the newly published bdla brochure on the qualified open space design plan, as well as the results of the bdla workshop "Sport in Public Open Spaces and Sports Facilities" from May 10, 2022, in Mülheim an der Ruhr.

At the end of the working group meeting, members reported news from the regional groups. The next working group meeting is expected to be held again physically on Friday, April 28, 2023, in Frankfurt am Main. The spokesperson Prof. Ulrike Böhm asked members to contribute topics for the next working group meeting.
