The growing diversity of usage requirements within our settlements often leads to increasingly explosive conflicts of use and function. The technical requirements for planning are becoming increasingly complex and can only be met with good planning processes that are based on precaution and sustainability. In addition to the landscape plan and informal concepts such as climate adaptation and biodiversity concepts, landscape planning offers an instrument that fits perfectly at the level of the development plan: the green structure plan. Green structure planning actually offers the opportunity to tackle the overarching approaches and challenges conceptually and creatively and to bundle the most diverse sectoral aspects in the process; however, due to the optional nature of the GOP, it is often dispensed with.

In this year's bdla Baden-Württemberg Landscape Planning, we want to focus on green space planning and provide information on the situation in Baden-Württemberg and beyond. What are the current requirements for the green space plan? How can we intelligently combine land uses in urban development and generate multiple benefits? How can it be further developed and designed in such a way that, in conjunction with the development plan, it can meet the increasing challenges? And how can green space planning as a process be qualified in such a way that the various instruments interact efficiently and it is possible overall to make the green spaces in our urban and rural settlements fit for the future?

The Association of German Landscape Architects Baden-Württemberg, in cooperation with the SRL Regional Group Baden-Württemberg and the BVDL, will address the current topics of sustainable nature-based planning, look beyond the boundaries of the disciplines and present approaches to solutions with experts from planning offices, administrations and universities. There will also be plenty of time and opportunity for a personal exchange of experiences among fellow experts. Landscape Planning 2024 will be held as a face-to-face event.
