With the exhibition "draußen" (Outside), the Architekturmuseum der TU München has been dedicating itself to landscape architecture for the first time since 27 April.

"Outside" starts from the premise that at the beginning of the 21st century there is no corner of the earth left where the effects of urbanization, the massive exploitation of fossil fuels, growing mobility and the unchecked changes of ecological systems, but also the consequences of increasing migration are not felt. In ten case studies, the exhibition shows the concrete interaction, the systemic dependence of city and surrounding area, of water cycles and the local and global conditions. The initiators are five academic teams who present fundamental research here. In the projects presented, which range from Casablanca to Madrid and Changde to Kigali and Medellín, they first and foremost attempt to analyze complex spatial situations. In doing so, they draw on various instruments and disciplines such as sociology or ethnology. In the concrete case studies, context-specific system knowledge is compiled and compared in close collaboration with the local project partners before any thought is given to possible transformational perspectives and structural measures.

The aim of the exhibition is to give the public a deeper idea of the changing concepts and strategies of landscape architecture in the present and at the same time to demonstrate its growing importance for the future. Landscape Architecture Today is dedicated to those spatial systems that will shape tomorrow's society.
