It is with great pleasure that bdla Bayern has taken note of the unanimous decision of the Munich City Council of 28 June 2017 to reunite the English Garden in Munich.

Like many citizens and fellow campaigners of the Ein Englischer Garten gemeinnützige GmbH Foundation, the bdla has believed in the message "Reunification is feasible!" for many years and has promoted the cause as an ideological supporter. The fact that this vision is now actually becoming reality is undisputed and largely due to the personal commitment of the initiators Petra Lejeune and Hermann Grub, who have never lost sight of the goal at all levels of urban society and far beyond. They and their supporters deserve the sincere respect and thanks on the part of the professional association.

In this sense, the bdla Bavaria wishes you, the Foundation and the City of Munich continued success and the necessary patience in the coming realization.

According to media reports, the start of construction of the 396-meter tunnel is currently considered realistic for 2023. The construction time has been estimated at four and a half years and the costs at 125 million euros. 80 million will be covered by the city of Munich, while a commitment from the Free State amounts to 35 million euros. In addition, there will be funding from the federal programme National Urban Development Projects as well as private donations.
