On 6 July 2017, the Association of German Landscape Architects - Bavarian State Association (bdla Bayern) and the Association of Garden, Landscape and Sports Ground Construction Bavaria e.V.. (VGL Bayern) invited their members to a guided tour followed by a summer reception at Natur in Pfaffenhofen.

In the best summer weather, bdla managing director Ursela Schwertl welcomed the 40 or so participants from both associations and was pleased that Eva Linder, managing director of Natur in Pfaffenhofen, and Maximilian Heyland, responsible for exhibitions, guided the group of visitors around the 5.5 ha garden show grounds.

The exhibition grounds in Pfaffenhofen are not contiguous, but consist of four areas. The temporary exhibition areas, which include the garden details of the landscape gardeners, are located at the fairground. The sports and leisure park skilfully links the various sports facilities.
Central element of the horticultural show is however the citizen park. This area, which was previously the site of the municipal building yard and used as a car park, has now been transformed into a versatile park area that can also be used for cultural events. At the same time, flood protection was integrated into the park by installing a weir and an overflow ditch. The garden show area was planned by the Berlin office of hutterreimann landscape architects.

The expert tour was followed by the summer reception amidst the landscape gardening details.

Dietmar Narr, member in the executive committee of the bdla Bavaria, showed up highly pleased over the successful organization of the garden show area. It thanked the national horticultural show society for your outstanding work in the last years. Thus the garden shows serve as important pulse givers for the green development of a city and are besides models for other cities and municipalities. He was pleased that with this reception a common platform for the exchange of both disciplines was created. For the future he wished for more joint activities of the two associations.

VGL Vice President Norbert Stöppel thanked the exhibiting member companies in his welcoming speech. Their theme gardens show the diverse design possibilities of gardening and landscaping and are a flagship for the industry. In his speech, he emphasized the commitment to more urban greenery. With the cross-association list of demands for the White Paper on Urban Greening, a good cooperation between bdla and BGL at the federal level is evident. This good cooperation must also be promoted at the state level.

The evening ended with cool drinks and pleasant conversations.
