The new ideas competition "Climate Protection Next Door" awards up to 3,000 euros in prize money.

Ideas on how each and every individual can contribute to climate protection in their own neighborhood can be submitted on the website www.klimaschutz-nebenan.de until May 15, 2022. The best submissions will receive seed money for implementing the idea. These can originate from the most diverse areas of life - from energy saving over nutrition up to the own mobility behavior.

The competition is not looking for scientific papers or recommendations to local government. Rather, the focus is on concrete suggestions that can be easily implemented by as many people as possible on site.

The ideas competition is organized by the nebenan.de Foundation and sponsored by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU), the Allianz Umweltstiftung and Robert Bosch GmbH.

Ideas can be submitted to the competition until May 15. The best ideas will then be put to the vote on the competition website. The ten ideas then voted for by the most people, plus up to three additional ones selected by the foundation, will each receive 1,000 euros in seed money. From these in turn, the expert jury will select five ideas that will receive further prize money of 2,000 euros each to enable them to be implemented.

The ideas submitted for neighborhood climate protection should meet five clear criteria:

• Climate protection - Can a concrete contribution to climate protection be achieved through this idea?
• Participation potential - Can the greatest possible number and variety of people in the neighborhood be won over to climate protection?
• Feasibility - Can this idea realistically be implemented?
• Long-term - Does the idea have the potential to become permanently established?
• Exemplary character - Can this idea be adapted to other local environments (neighborhoods, villages)?
