The discussion about inner-city open spaces in Hannover continues with an event on the future at Waterlooplatz on

29 May 2017 from 18.00 - 20.30, at the Volkshochschule Hannover, Burgstr. 14

Lively squares are important for the attractiveness, quality of life and cultural identity of residents and users. They make a significant contribution to the functional mix of a neighbourhood. Waterlooplatz, one of the most important public spaces in the state capital, does not have this identification value, this liveliness and functional diversity. However, it offers a favourable starting position for this. In the past, approaches for a stronger intermixing of the dominant government and administration buildings with other uses have been elaborated. Such approaches, which take up new urban development directions and aim to breathe new life and qualities into this open space, are to be discussed together.

In addition to lectures by architectural historian Dr. - Ing. Sid Auffarth, architects and urban planners Klaus Heinzel and Erst Futterlieb, students of the Leibniz University of Hanover from a seminar taught by Prof. Dr. Tanja Mölders will also present their ideas for the future at Waterlooplatz. Prof. Dr. - Ing. Dietmar Scholich will moderate the evening.

The event is free of charge.
