Where is the middle? Series of lectures in Oldenburg

Our city centres and town centres are changing. The classic concept of local retail is becoming less and less viable and the majority of residents live and work in districts far outside.
Even as places of political debate or cultural identity, city centres do not always have their former impact. At the same time, there is a desire for lively centres and new impulses come from activities of the citizens.
Classically, the city centre is decisive for the creation of a city's identity. In some smaller communities, the question is already being asked whether this function is still being exercised.
What significance do these shifts have for our fundamental understanding of the city and urbanity? How does this development fit into the assumption that urbanization will continue to increase in the future? What means and strategies are available to control these processes?
These and other questions will be asked in various lectures and panel discussions at bau_werk Oldenburg.
