Building culture shapes our cities and landscapes. It makes them colourful, diverse and distinctive.

The aim of the Building Culture Talks is to track down the distinctive and formative features of regional building culture.

The last Baukulturgespräch of this year on 16 October 2018 at 6.30 p.m. is dedicated to keeping city-shaping open spaces free.

In view of social and ecological challenges, urban open space systems are becoming increasingly important for the quality of urban life. Osnabrück still has the opportunity for a spatially distinctive open space system with the "green fingers" extending from the surrounding countryside into the more densely built-up parts of the city. These open spaces have essential ecological and quality-of-life functions. As landscape spaces in the immediate vicinity of living and working, they are experienced directly and sensually.

How can the challenges of keeping open spaces be addressed in the face of pressing demand for building land and what opportunities for development can be exploited.
