Improving the quality of life and the environment in residential neighborhoods requires modern urban and open space planning. It contributes significantly to buffering the current consequences of climate change and increasing density through future-oriented solutions. In this context, the management of rainwater is key to the transformation of urban surfaces for the preservation of the natural water balance, flood protection and the reduction of heat stress.
In the context of the architecture time 2023 strategies of a water-sensitive urban development in the quarter "Langenhagen Weiherfeld", built on since 1994, are presented.

and the just newly built quarter "Herzkamp" in Hannover-Bothfeld" are presented. In addition, the climate adaptation strategies of the city of Hanover are explained in "Herzkamp" on the basis of the pilot project "Klimawohl".
