About 35 invited guests came to the opening of the exhibition. In his welcoming speech, Andreas Bee, mayor of Bad Lippspringe, emphasized not only the planning achievements of the Sinai office from Berlin, but also the support of the former head of the forestry office.
2014 was a difficult year for him. Over 3,000 trees were felled in the forest, which initially caused a lot of criticism. However, the result was so outstanding that the citizens are proud of their WaldKurPark today. Dr. Urula Kleefisch-Jobst, General Curator of the Museum of Architecture and Engineering Art NRW (M:AI), also emphasized the special qualities of the design. "Germans have always had a special relationship with the forest. The mystical and dark have always fascinated them, but it is the clearings that bring out the most beautiful in the forest," Kleefisch-Jobst said.
Ina Bimberg then acknowledged the high quality of all the works submitted and went into more detail about the individual prize-winning works. She congratulated the present A.W. Faust and his colleagues from Büro Sinai for their groundbreaking project, with which they had opened a door that had previously been closed.
"Forest and settlement, forest and park, forest and recreation are - in professional and legal terms - regularly pairs of opposites. The forest is defended with vehemence in the fear that any change will cause destruction and loss. The WaldKurPark in Bad Lippspringe is the counter-evidence that can change thinking nationwide. SINAI has succeeded in breaking this taboo and proving that the path from the forest to the park, to the forest park, generates added value: settlement areas and forest are next to each other, not against each other, recreation in the forest takes place in new places and outside of the return paths, the clearing, the "most beautiful" thing in the forest, brings sunlight, warmth and comfort into the pine, from which man, but especially nature, profits - the richness of species in the herbaceous layer is proof enough," according to the quotation from the jury minutes, which is repeated here.
Afterwards there was enough time to visit the exhibition together and to discuss the presented projects and the "Green Infrastructure" over a small snack.
The exhibition can be visited until July 15th.
