At its meeting on September 23, 2022, the Neuss City Council decided to launch an open, single-stage open-space planning ideas and implementation competition for Bürgerpark Neuss. In the competition, landscape architects throughout Europe are called upon to submit individual designs and creative ideas for the State Garden Show 2026. The aim is to obtain a wide range of proposed solutions. The basis is a detailed description of the conditions and the goals for the project; ideas from citizens have also been incorporated into the competition process.

On Tuesday, May 24, 2022, the award ceremony of the nrw.landscapearchitektur.preis 2022 took place in the Erich Brost Pavilion at Zeche Zollverein in Essen. Approximately 100 guests accepted the invitation and celebrated the award winners. They also examined the new brochure on the prize and took the opportunity for collegial exchange.

The tenth competition of the nrw.landscapearchitecture.award breaks new ground: in addition to classic object planning, in 2022 conceptual, green design, landscape planning, urban planning, climate-impacting projects will also be evaluated. The submission deadline has been extended. The new deadline is 25 February 2022.

The regional group of the bdla nw (Association of German Landscape Architects) has been conducting a nationwide competition for young landscape architects for years, now for the tenth time, together with the respective Landesgartenschau GmbH. The jury meeting chaired by Laura Heuschneider, landscape architect Rheda-Wiedenbrück took place on October 17, 2021. From the 18 entries submitted, the jury awarded three prize winners (one 1st prize and two 3rd prizes) and one recognition.

At the general meeting on 8 September, Christian Jürgensmann was dismissed as deputy chairman of the North Rhine-Westphalia regional group of the Association of German Landscape Architects. However, he remains active on the board as a spokesman for competition and public procurement. With the election to the deputy chairman Rhineland Andreas Hermanns, freelance landscape architect from Schwalmtal, now takes over this task. Laura Heuschneider is the new spokesperson for plant use. Further spokespersons were confirmed in their offices.

The Association of German Landscape Architects of North Rhine-Westphalia (bdla nw) has awarded the nrw.landscapearchitecture.prize 2020. From 14 entries, a jury chaired by Prof. Gert Aufmkolk unanimously awarded prizes to three works, while two other projects were commended by the jury. All the works illustrate how parks, gardens and open spaces create new and impressive landscape experiences and at the same time address future issues of the built environment.

This year, for the third time, FSB is hosting the so-called bdla Day as part of the Planners' Forum. In the Rhineland, they already speak of customs.
