The Association of German Architects (BDA) Munich-Upper Bavaria, in cooperation with the bdla Bavaria, the City of Munich and the Technical University of Munich, is currently organizing the Seventh Architecture Week (A7) entitled City:Life, which will take place in Munich from June 25 - July 1, 2022.

The aim of this architecture week is to make us aware again of the diversity and potential of public space, to give us space to meet there, to exchange ideas, to take time for each other and with each other. After what feels like an eternity of home offices and videoconferencing, A7 was specifically conceived as an architecture week of encounter.

As in previous Architecture Weeks, there will be a central venue: in the middle of Munich, at the Isartor, the A7 will offer a stage for events, lectures and forums around Munich's city center for one week.

Proposals from all space and culture creators are welcome!

This will be flanked by interventions that will become special places in public space for a week. Like satellites, these will spread across the city and the region and make visible what has been missing for so long. City:Life!

The satellites thematize positions on public space and coexistence in the city and region. They celebrate urban space and the qualities of place with installations,

  • that discover and frame spatial potentials
  • that renegotiate and rethink public space
  • that offer space for informal encounters
  • that are fun and open up unusual perspectives
  • that tell of the quality of space that we are capable of providing.

For installations, BDA will supply reusable construction fences covered with red stage gauze that can be used to create space simply and sustainably.
The diversity and individuality of the satellites become one big whole thanks to the uniformity of the building materials and the striking color scheme. With their spatial quality, small events or exhibitions, the satellites invite discussion and city:experience.
