With the planned renaming of the bdla, a process was started last year to put the association and the profession to the test and to initiate important changes for more equal opportunities and diversity.

On behalf of the advisory board and presidium, the AG Gendergerechter bdla is now developing strategies and proposals for measures in a two-day attendance workshop in Hanover at the beginning of March.

Andrea Geister-Herbolzheimer, board member of the Chamber of Architects of Lower Saxony and member of the project group "Equal Opportunities" of the Federal Chamber of Architects, will give a starting impulse. Among other things, she will talk about the activities and experiences there under the guiding principle "make visible inform about differences and support changes" .

Following this, the working group will focus on key areas for action identified in the online discussions held to date:

• Field of action 1: Status quo - stocktaking
• Field of action 2: Association
• Field of action 3: Planning offices
• Field of action 4: Training
• Field of action 5: External impact
• Field of action 6: Gender-appropriate, diverse, inclusive (GDI) planning

Concrete projects will have to be defined. For example, in practical professional practice, gender representation in association committees, improving equal opportunities and dealing with the gender pay gap will need to be optimized. In the understanding of planning, it will be a matter of planning open spaces that allow fair access for all and also protect against the consequences of climate change.

Accompanied by the AG Gendergerechter bdla, a content-related discussion will take place in the association at all levels, in which everyone can participate in full diversity.
