Great interest in the bdla student competition Central Germany on the subject of the sponge city of Quedlinburg.
On Friday, November 5, 2021, the colloquium on the student competition of the bdla regional groups of Central Germany "How can we rebuild our cities in a climate-friendly way?" took place in Quedlinburg City Hall.
Seventy students of landscape architecture from universities in Dresden, Erfurt, Bernburg and Neubrandenburg and their professors took part in the colloquium chaired by landscape architect Prof. Erich Buhmann. The urban planning department of the World Heritage City of Quedlinburg had won the application among municipalities in Saxony-Anhalt for a student competition on the theme of "Sponge City".

The organ of the chambers of architects, the Deutsche Architektenblatt DAB, reports in its current issue 05-2021 that Prof. Erich Buhmann, landscape architect from Bernburg (Saale), has been chairman of the regional association of the bdla (Bund Deutscher Landschaftsarchitekten) since last autumn.

Obituary of the Saxony-Anhalt Chamber of Architects for landscape architect Frank Schröder from Wernigerode
The preparation and implementation of the second State Garden Show of Saxony-Anhalt in his hometown of Wernigerode in 2006 was the entry into the world of garden shows for the then almost 30-year-old landscape architect Frank Schröder. The implementation of landscape architects' ideas for contemporary park landscapes, which temporarily serve the "show of the green guild", but rather redefine urban landscapes with their sustainability, was his vocation. This was followed by his work for the State Garden Shows in Aschersleben (2010) and Burg (2018), as well as at the transnational Federal Garden Show in the Havel region (2015). Anyone who experienced him on guided tours of the BUGA or the LAGAs sensed his love of greenery, commitment and enthusiasm for change and quality.

On February 8, 2020, Frank Schröder, landscape architect bdla from Wernigerode, passed away at the age of 45. Frank Schröder had been admitted to the Chamber of Architects of Saxony-Anhalt in 2010; in 2016 he joined bdla, and in 2017 he took over the chairmanship of the bdla regional association of Saxony-Anhalt.
