This clears the way for the first Federal Garden Show in Saxony.

The planning and implementation of the Federal Garden Show will be one of the most important urban and open space planning projects of the next decade for the city.

The exemplary implementation of sustainable urban development, which combines ecological, climatological and social aspects in equal measure, will make the city more liveable and lovable for its citizens and visitors.

The guiding principle of the feasibility study on which the city council's decision is based is the networking of the rubble dumps / rubble mountains as key landmarks in the urban area. The areas scattered across the city are a tragic part of Dresden's history. The BUGA will not stage the glorious Dresden, but will be characterized by places of remembrance that are slowly disappearing from people's memories. The results of the feasibility study show that these could be part of a lively, networked city, rather than being non-places. The concept thus succeeds in creating a very characterful theme tailored to Dresden.

We now have 10 years to plan, discuss, develop, build and plant. As the Association of German Landscape Architects, we want to constructively accompany this supposedly long, certainly exciting and perhaps sometimes controversial path with our professional expertise.

We see this development process as a great opportunity to present our profession more broadly together with other green professions, to get involved and participate.

We would like to thank the city councillors for their courageous and forward-looking decision.
