Prof. Stephan Lenzen newly elected bdla president

Elections to the presidium of the professional association. Timo Herrmann, bbz landscape architects, Berlin, becomes vice president. Thanks to Till Rehwaldt

On April 1, 2022, the advisory board of the Federation of German Landscape Architects bdla elected a new association leadership at its annual meeting at Schloss Dyck. Unanimously, Prof. Stephan Lenzen, owner of RMP Stephan Lenzen Landscape Architects, was elected as the new president of the bdla. The 55-year-old succeeds Till Rehwaldt in office, who has held this office for eight years and whose presidium Prof. Stephan Lenzen belonged to as vice president since 2014.

Timo Herrmann, bbz landschaftsarchitekten berlin gmbh, stood as a new vice president. The members of the advisory board elected him unanimously for the election period of three years.

Team "IFLA" formed for "Landscape Architecture-Im/Export". bdla online communication in English

In order to further strengthen German landscape architecture on an international level and to highlight its competencies and potentials, the team "IFLA" has been constituted at the Association of German Landscape Architects. The name was chosen in reference to the associations of the profession worldwide IFLA and IFLA Europe.

The environmental organizations BBN, bdla, BUND, NABU, DUH, UfU, UVP-Gesellschaft and the environmental umbrella organization DNR have presented concrete recommendations for action to effectively accelerate infrastructure projects in the current legislative period. On the occasion of a parliamentary discussion with members of the German Bundestag, they emphasize that there is an urgent need for acceleration in the area of climate and environmental protection measures while maintaining established participation and environmental standards in order to achieve the goal of climate neutrality.

25 Years Ago, the bdla moved into the German Architecture Center in Berlin

On October 25, 1996, what had previously become reality on October 1 was celebrated: the relocation of the Association of German Landscape Architects with its office from Bonn to Berlin. For the professional association with a long tradition in the city on the Rhine, it was its sign of the consolidation of Berlin's function as a capital city and its function as the future seat of government.

Award for many years of professional commitment on the international stage

On 18 August 2021, at the 57th World Congress of the International Federation of Landscape Architects IFLA in George Town, Malaysia, a ceremony took place: IFLA President James Hayter announced that Prof. Fritz Auweck, bdla International Spokesperson, delegate of the German Federal Chamber of Architects to IFLA and Germany's representative to IFLA for many years, would receive the IFLA President's Award. The IFLA President's Award is presented by the IFLA President in recognition of an outstanding personality who, through his or her voluntary commitment within IFLA, has fundamentally determined and changed the profession of landscape architecture worldwide.

BIM in landscape architecture

Building Information Modeling, or BIM for short, is playing an increasingly important role as a planning method in landscape architecture. Although most construction projects have been digitally drawn for a long time and project management, AVA and other software is used, the captured data remains trapped in separate systems. With BIM, on the other hand, a central data structure of the construction object, including a three-dimensional model, is set up and managed. In this way, BIM allows for a holistic view of the project and its development, taking into account all relevant characteristic data as well as the life cycle of the respective object.
