Parliamentary evening of the Federal Chamber of Architects and bdla on March 19, 2024 in Berlin
There is still a lot to be done in terms of speeding up the planning process and there are many starting points for improvements. The Federal Chamber of Architects BAK and the Association of German Landscape Architects bdla drew attention to this at a joint parliamentary evening on March 19 in Berlin. A key message is that, from the perspective of planning practice, legislative changes aimed solely at shortening procedures fall short.

Recommendations for a landscape-oriented acceleration of planning in times of biodiversity and climate crisis
Enormous ecological, social and economic challenges as a result of advancing climate change, massive losses of biodiversity and increasing scarcity of resources characterize our time. There is a consensus that the (green) transformation, above all climate protection, energy and mobility transition, must be driven forward faster and more decisively than before in order to achieve the agreed sustainability and climate protection goals.

bdla exhibition on "Young Landscape Architecture". Competition submission online until April 2, 2024
The bdla has set itself the goal of giving the young landscape architecture scene a stage in the form of an exhibition. To this end, the competition "FRISCHGRÜN - Exhibition of Young Landscape Architecture" was initiated and launched again in 2024.

Membership directory and information on the Association of German Landscape Architects
The annual handbook, published by the bdla, was released by Patzer Verlag just in time for the start of the year. All facts and data relating to the professional association are summarized on around 230 pages in a handy A5 format. In its tried-and-tested form and brought up to date, the 2024 handbook provides an overview of the association's structures and statutes as well as its memberships.

Parliamentary evening of the "Green for urban and rural areas" initiative on November 7, 2023 in Berlin
In the second half of this legislative period of the German Bundestag, the framework conditions for green infrastructures must be consistently improved. The Bund deutscher Baumschulen (BdB) e. V., the Bund Deutscher Landschaftsarchitekten (bdla), the Bundesverband Garten-, Landschafts- und Sportplatzbau e. V. (BGL) and the Zentralverband Gartenbau e. V. (ZVG) drew attention to this at the joint parliamentary evening on November 7, 2023 in Berlin.

Eight bdla recommendations for an appropriate consideration of climate adaptation in urban planning law
The German government has already launched a number of legal initiatives with regard to climate adaptation and climate protection. The recently published draft for a federal climate adaptation law is a step in the right direction.

Jury awards one first prize and nine awards
The competition for the German Landscape Architecture Award 2023 has been decided. The First Prize goes to the "Neue Ufer Überlingen", design author:inside: relais Landschaftsarchitekten Heck Mommsen PartGmbB. This was the result of the jury meeting on April 21, 2023 in Berlin.

Online seminar of the bdla on May 25, 2023
More speed in the expansion of renewable energies and electricity grids: The regulation establishing a framework for accelerated expansion of the use of renewable energies is intended to generate a significant acceleration of the expansion of renewable energies in the member states. Among other things, the regulation stipulates that member states can waive an environmental impact assessment and a species protection assessment in approval procedures for renewable energy installations and the electricity grids required for their expansion under certain conditions.
