Tuesday, March 05, 2024, 6:30 pm: AG meeting - focus: Mobility

In line with LAtalks #02 "Paradigm shift street space" on 21.02. in Munich, we will discuss current mobility topics with Sophie Stigliano, Director of Urban Standards GmbH.
She will give a presentation on neighborhood mobility as a driver of the mobility transition. Topic: How an economical operation of shared mobility reduces CO2 and sealing.

Monday, November 20, 2023, 18:00 hrs: WG meeting - focus: Life cycle costs for outdoor facilities

We are increasingly being asked about the life cycle costs of our open spaces; clients are also asking about this. From our point of view, this could be a good tool for higher-quality and more sustainable construction methods.

While researching available data, the working group came across d.b.g. Datenbankgesellschaft mbH, which has developed the GreenCycle tool. On this evening, Ms. Jana Schulze will present the tool and its use using an example and show which data they use to arrive at the results.

Wednesday, July 05, 2023, 18:00: Guided tour Magdalenenpark Munich

Meeting point: At the entrance to Magdalenenpark in Pasing. Institutstraße 12, 81241 Munich

Martin Hänsel from the Bund Naturschutz will give us an exclusive tour of Magdalenenpark, an old enchanted monastery garden in the middle of Pasing on the Würm. The BN was able to acquire the park and is currently transforming it into a climate park. Parts of it will be open to the public from 2024. SZ article on the project

June 29 - October 26, 2023: 5-part afterwork seminar series "Naturally climate-friendly and diverse"

In cooperation with the Bavarian Chamber of Architects, a multi-part seminar series has been designed, which will take place in digital form in summer / fall 2023. The topics covered include biodiversity and biodiversity, soils as a habitat, construction processes and materials, water-sensitive urban development and participation and social inclusion. Tuesday, May 10, 2022, 6:00 pm: WG meeting - Focus: Mandatory biodiversity roofs and façade greening at schools and kindergartens in Munich, field reports

In 2020, the City Council of the City of Munich obliged the building department to design the green roofs of all new buildings as biodiversity roofs wherever possible and to green at least 30% of the facades.
Mr. Otto Efler will report on the experiences of the Horticulture Building Department on how successfully this obligation has been implemented since 2020. Together with some other colleagues, we will present current projects.

Markus Schäf will then report on the current status of the BDA's plans for the A7. And about the BDLA Bavaria symposium on climate in fall 2022.

Introduction and moderation: Jan Sihler, Büro Verde from Freising.

The following speakers will report on their practical experience and will be available for questions and discussion:

  • Prof. Dr. Dickhaut from HCU, (as initiator of the BlueGreenStreets workshop series, in spring 2020)
  • Ralph Schäffner, as a freelance landscape architect and member of the research advisory board in Veitshöchheim (experiments with wick systems for tree pits)
  • Hannes Prügl from the Soil Institute, as an expert on soils and substrates, known from the excursion to the Bayernkaserne

Topics include:

  • Definition of tree trenches
  • Reasons / advantages for the use of tree infiltration trenches
  • What systems / approaches are there for tree infiltration trenches?
  • Which materials are used, with the respective advantages and disadvantages
  • Which points should be paid particular attention to and where is further research / monitoring necessary?
  • What are the advantages of tree infiltration trenches in the case of permeable soils (as in Munich)?
  • The problem of de-icing salt input in tree infiltration trenches

Tuesday, March 08, 2022, 6:00 p.m.: WG meeting - focal points: Sustainable concrete paving / A7

18.00 - 18:45 Short presentation by Mr. Weißmann, Godelmann company. Mr. Weißmann will present the new sustainability strategy of Godelmann.
Topics include Co2-neutral production of concrete paving, the new Godelmann brochure on sustainability and the use of recycled paving.

Followed by: Presentation of the results of the special session on Architecture Week A7 in Munich and discussion.

It is planned to invite Mr. Grau from Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl, who have developed an online application for the evaluation and comparability of plans with regard to their sustainability criteria.

Tuesday, November 23, 2021, 6:00 pm: WG meeting - focus: DGNB certification

Mr. Villar from CL Map GmbH explains everything about DGNB certifications (German Sustainable Building Council). He is a certified DGNB and Leed consultant. Mr. Lang from LangLangLang will also add a few words about the DGNB from the client's point of view.

The following questions will be discussed:

  • Content of the DGNB certification, especially content regarding open spaces that we can influence
  • Advantages for building owners, reasons for certification
  • Can we use certification to plan and design outdoor areas in a more sustainable and biodiverse way?
  • Differentiation and differences to other certifications, e.g. Leed
  • Development of DGNB: Will the content change in the future (expansion?), dissemination, will it become standard at some point?
